SharePoint 2010 Virtual Machine (VM) – Installing SharePoint 2010 – 4/4

Click on the installation package to start install SharePoint 2010

Click “Next” and “Accept License” term window will appear. Accept it and click “Next”. Installation of Prerequisite will be started

Success window will appear

Click on “Install SharePoint Server” and enter SharePoint Product key. Trial product key is PKXTJ-DCM9D-6MM3V-G86P8-MJ8CY

Accept the license term

Select “Server Form”

Select “Complete – Install all components” and click “Install Now”

“Installation Progress”

It ends with “Run Configuration Wizard” window

If you are planning to use domain account credentials, then, click close. If you are planning to use non-domain account or machine account, then, we need to uncheck “Run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard now” and click close.

Create Configuration Database

Best practice is to create accounts namely SQLAccount, AdminAccount and FarmAdminAccount and separate account for each service. Now what I have done is that used existing account to run everything. Please be careful. Any one in right mind will not do this. You can create another account for SharePoint. After planning with the account, you need to use PoweShell. Farm installation on a single machine using local accounts is not allowed but PowerShell “New-SPConfigurationDatabase” does the same with local account.

Run PowerShell as administrator.owerShell is interactive. Type “New-SPConfigurationDatabase” and press enter

Enter database name, say, “SharePoint Config”, database server name, Farm credentials and Passphrase. Please ignore the red part.

SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard:

Run “SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard”

Let “Do not disconnect from this server farm” checked. You can change central administration port.

You will be prompted for credentials

After successful installation, “SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard” will ends with option of running “SharePoint Central Administration”. “SharePoint Central Administration” will request for login and password, enter as administrator or using current login (If you login as administrator, you first need to set administrator password from “Computer Management” in “Control Panel”)

You need to run services and create a SharePoint site. For services, you can use “Manage Services on Server” or run “Configuration Wizard”. For SharePoint site, first create a web application and then site collection.
